One should not diminish the role of hair as a social and sexual communication signal in humans. Thus, it is true that one of the concerns of either male or female nowadays is hair loss or what they call “Common Baldness”.

Some have already tried many hair growth products such as hair growth shampoo and vitamin for hair growth, even consulting a Doctor for professional help. What others fail to realize is that our system has different ways in reacting and handling drastic changes in our body which may cause hair loss.

How Hair Growth Works?

Hair growth is estimulated by a protein called “Keratin” with each hair follicle having a specific growth cycle, it grows for about 5 to 6 inches a year; an average person normally loses 50 to 100 strands of hair a day.

Hair grows in an endless recurrent pattern this is why it is important to know the hair growth cycle stages to understand the reason for hair loss.

Hair growth and loss is indiscriminate and not seasonal or cyclic. At any given point, a random amount of hairs will be in diverse stages of growth and shedding.

What Are The 3 Stages Of The Hair Growth Cycle?

These three stages of hair growth are known to be: Catagen, Telogen, and Anagen.

1) Anagen – the Growing Phase.

In this phase a rapid division of cells in the root of the hair takes place to regenerate and push the club hair up the follicle and eventually out. Hair grows about 1 to 2 cm for every 28 days. Having a short active phase of growth causes slow hair re-growth. On the other hand, having a long active phase of growth yields fast hair growth. The amount of time the hair follicle stays in the Anagen phase is based on genetic information.

2) Catagen – the Transitional Phase.

During this phase the hair follicle recoils to about 1/6 of the average length. The lower part of the follicle is eradicated and the dermal papilla breaks away to rest below. This phase lasts for about 14 to 20 days.

3) Telogen – the Resting Phase.

During this phase the hair follicle is completely at rest and the hair is formed. This phase lasts for about 100 days for hairs on the scalp. At the end of the Telogen phase the hair follicle re-enters the Anagen phase. The dermal papilla and the base of the follicle bond together again and a new hair begins to form. If the old hair hasn’t been shed, the new hair pushes the old one out and the growth cycle starts all over again.

Therefore, the Anagen phase is obviously the most desirable of the three.

A hair loss condition is characterized by progressive shortening of the Anagen phase and prolongation of the Telogen phase.

As hair loss progresses, the follicle expend more time in the Telogen phase, and less and less in the Anagen phase.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HAIR LOSS AND BALDNESS

Let us simplify the difference between hair loss and baldness.

Hair loss is when you experience shredding or falling of the hair, while baldness is when you are going completely bald.

Anyone who has experienced hair loss should consider hair growth vitamins because in some cases, it has proven to help hair regenerate. Others have also tried hair growth pills which in one way or the other help stabilize your system and promote healthy hair growth. Unfortunately, remedies like this only work if you keep taking it.

But since we are dealing with baldness, which is obviously more serious, we should know what changes in our hair when we go bald and look for more advanced baldness remedies. Baldness is the initial receding at the temples followed by the thinning of the crown, then the area behind the forelock and finally the thinning of the forelock.

If you are experiencing any stage of the above-mentioned, you may want to consider some of the baldness remedies available.

If you have tried all the hair growth pills, natural remedies for baldness, all types of hair growth treatments, and have changed your lifestyle yet none of them worked for you, this is the time when you should consider three of the most reliable baldness remedies.

Baldness Treatment

People continue to look for natural baldness remedies everywhere, may it be the internet, magazines, televisions or even suggestions from old folks.

Others think that it is natural to lose hair as you grow older, and that you just have to accept it. Baldness, also known as alopecia or absence of hair, is frequently evident on the scalp; however it can appear any place on the body where hair grows.

What causes baldness?

Baldness is affected by three factors – age, heredity or the inheritance to go bald early (a profusion of the male hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT)).

Although baldness is mostly hereditary, this does not mean that there will be no available treatment or remedy to resolve the problem. Aside from unhealthy lifestyle, undergoing some types of medication can also cause baldness.

Remedies for Baldness:

1) Laser Treatment

Laser hair therapy (LHT) is a new, non-surgical scientific approach which has recently emerged as a potentially effective treatment to baldness and is medically tested to be safe and effective for hair growth treatments.

Doctors have high regards for this new technology which is an effective remedy. Laser treatment stimulates the blood supply in the scalp directly with the right wavelength of light. It enhances cell activity and allows more nutrients to reach the hair follicle faster. Laser therapy also provides good results like enhancing the hair’s overall health and improving manageability. For patients that undergo laser therapy, doctors still prescribe hair growth vitamins and other hair growth treatments to give better results.

2) Non-Surgical Hair Replacement

Non-surgical hair transplant is one of the baldness remedies available in the market. It is the modern state-of-the-art hair replacement system which has the ability to simulate and project a true natural appearance while offering the client a significant increase in overall hair density. For this kind of treatment, an external hair bearing device is added to the existing hair or scalp for a fuller appearance of the hair. Examples are hair weaves, hair extensions, which consist of human hair, synthetic fiber or both.

Non surgical hair replacement is an appropriate technique for a number of alopecia conditions including androgenetic, or hereditary baldness and universalis amongst others. Non surgical hair replacement also appeals to those who are afraid to undergo surgery. It guaranties no downtime, pain and swelling.

3) Hair Transplant Surgery

Hair transplant surgery has gained popularity due to the advent of micro-grafting which helps to craft a natural hairline. Contemporary surgical techniques have made hair transplant a practical treatment option providing the patients are well qualified candidates and have realistic expectations. Hair transplant surgery is recommended for patients with moderate baldness.

Hair transplant surgery must be approached deliberately since the hair to be implanted may be limited to the amount the hair donor is willing to donate. Finding the right donor is important as future baldness is erratic when the root of the hair implanted did not grow properly. The surgeon will utilize donor hair cautiously in order to help you achieve realistic, immediate and long term goals. You would also be advised to use a laser hair comb, which can speed up healing after surgical placement of hair transplants.

It is therefore important to consider what baldness remedy to go for whenever you are about to get bald. Also keep in mind that these types of remedies will cost you money. After all it is best to consult a doctor who would be knowledgeable about your case, and would be able to give you satisfying result in the long run.
